Distillerie Luxardo
Maraschino
Luxardo Maraschino Originale is a classic, and the Luxardo family still produces this wonderful liqueur according to the original formula used by Girolamo Luxardo in 1821. The patented, hand-woven, straw-plaited round bottle has become an iconic symbol of the brand. Maraschino is one of very few liqueurs produced by distillation. It is made from the Luxardo Marasca cherry, a sour cherry variety cultivated exclusively by Luxardo in the Veneto region of Italy.

Dry and peppery, with hints of pistachio in the aromas.
Palate
this liqueur has a big buttery body and a palate that bursts with flavor- nuts, candied violets, sweet butter, and rock candy are all there, and nicely balanced with a paraffin note. The finish is long and warm. If you aren't familiar with Maraschino liqueur, don't expect it to taste like the cherry in a Manhattan. This is a very sophisticated bottling, and an essential ingredient in many cocktails." - Wine Enthusiast
Food Pairing
it is refreshing in long drinks and tasty in several coded international cocktails using Maraschino as an ingredient: Mary Pickford, Cuba Libre, Daiquiri, Screwdriver, Derby Royal, York Special, Dewey Flip, Cider Cobbler, Gilmore Punch, etc.. It is also classic on fruit salads, excellent straight on desserts (strawberries, kiwi, sliced pineapples and oranges), and a specialty with patisserie or Italian gelato.
TECHNICAL NOTES
Vinification
The distillate is allowed to mature for two years in Finnish ash vats.
Ageing
It is aged 3 years in Larchwood, and the distillate is allowed to mature for one to two years in Finnish Ashwood vats – a wood that does not lend its color even after many years of maturing. The spirit is then diluted and sugared.
