Bentu Luna is a visionary wine project rooted in the heart of Sardinia, between the rolling hills of Mandrolisai and Barigadu. Founded in 2019 by the Moratti family, the winery embraces a humanistic and sustainable philosophy that honors the island’s deep viticultural heritage. Grapes are sourced exclusively from ancient bush-trained vineyards—many between 35 and 120 years old—cultivated by local families and preserved through long-term stewardship agreements. In the cellar, Bentu Luna follows a minimal-intervention approach, using spontaneous fermentations in cement, wood, and terracotta, and deliberately avoiding stainless steel. Every detail, from the use of natural corks to lightweight bottles and recycled packaging, reflects a commitment to sustainability. The result is a portfolio of elegant, terroir-driven wines that capture the essence of Sardinia—authentic, refined, and unmistakably Mediterranean.
The 2022 Bentu Luna Unda Vermentino DOC is a dry, straw-yellow white wine from Sardinia that features an expressive nose of ripe stone fruits, herbs, and delicate floral notes. On the palate, it's fresh, harmonious, and medium-bodied with a balanced acidity, offering flavors of pear, apricot, and minerals with a refreshing, slightly bitter citrus finish.
The Bentu Luna Sobi Isola dei Nuraghi IGT 2022 is a red wine from the heart of Sardinia, predominantly made from indigenous grapes like Bovale, Cannonau, and Pascale. It features an intense ruby-red color and offers a complex bouquet of red fruits and spices on the nose, leading to a soft, persistent, and well-balanced palate with a lingering finish, making it an excellent pairing for roast pork, grilled red meats, and aged cheeses.
The 2020 Bentu Luna Susu Cannonau di Sardegna DOC is a medium to full-bodied red wine from Sardinia, Italy, with an intense ruby red color, featuring aromas of red fruits, spice, leather, and hints of tobacco or earthiness on the nose. On the palate, it is described as fresh, savory, and long-lasting, with firm tannins, high acidity, and a lingering finish that can include light vanilla notes. The wine is aged for six months in large, second fill oak barrels. What a lovely nose here, the perfume lifted again, with plenty of cherry and brighter raspberry characters. Such sweet fruit, but again retains that element of natural, mouth-filling rusticity. Fine sour cherry acidity, lots of spice and grip here too, chewy tannins, but the edge of firmness to the fruit and lightly saline acidity gives great freshness.
The Bentu Luna V Isola dei Nuraghi 2022 IGT is a white wine made from Vernaccia grapes, a variety native to Sardinia, and offers aromas of apple, apricot, and lemon peel with a hint of fumé or oxidative apple on the nose. The wine is produced in the Neoneli province of Sardinia by the Bentu Luna winery, known for using ancient vineyards and traditional methods.
