Veneto
A gondola ride along a Venetian canal is only part of the allure of this romantic region. Stretching from beautiful Lake Garda in the west to the Adriatic Sea in the east, Veneto is also one of Italy's foremost wine regions. Home to Italy's first school of vine growing and oenology, Veneto now produces about 25 per cent of Italy's DOC output, and is known by wine lovers the world over for its Amarone, Valpolicella, Soave and sparkling Prosecco.
