A wine of great class, produced only in outstanding vintage years. Corvina grapes, with the addition of some rondinella and sangiovese, are selected literally vine by vine, and from only the oldest vineyards in the Classico zone of Valpolicella, in Sant'Ambrogio. 

This Riserva represents the most eloquent expression of our family experience and tradition,. fully a world-class wine. Its qualities indicate a cellaring for even beyond 20 years.

TECHNICAL NOTES

Site

The fruit is from the Podere Massoni vineyards, with 10 to 20 years-old wines and a very low average yield of 2.5 kg per vine.

Vinification

Fermentation is about 70% in 50 hectolitre oak casks and 30% in steel. Ageing follows for around 6 months in barrels and 12 months in the bottle before being put on the market.

This IGT blend is composed of 55% Corvina, 25% Rondinella, 10% Corvinone and 10% other grapes that are aged in part inoak and in part in stainless steel.

Light Spiced, this medium bodied red exhibits a fresh and well-knit range of black raspberry and cassis fruit, with hints of sweet brown bread and mineral. Shows lovely balance and good drive through to the lingering finish

Valpolicella Classico Superiore

The Zenato Valpolicella Classico Superiore is produced from a blend of corvina, rondinella, sangiovese, and molinara grapes sourced in Negrar, Sant’Ambrogio, Pedemonte, Fumane, San Pietro in Cariano, all coomunes in the province of Verona. An elegant almond-scented bouquet, classicly Valpolicella. Shows dry and full-flavoured, with an excellent, velvet-contoured structure.

An elegant almond-scented bouquet, delicate, reminiscent of maraschino cherries and wild berries.

Palate

Smooth, round with the right balance between freshness and savoury notes. Dry and full-flavoured with tones of dried plums, bitter chocolate and dried herbs.It has an excellent contoured structure of velvet tannins, fine acidity with a long persistent finish.

Serve at 14-18C

Serve with pasta with red sauces and white meat, roasted or grilled.

TECHNICAL NOTES

Site

Costalunga, Valpolicella 300metres above sea level.

Vinification

After hand-harvesting, the grapes are de-stemmed and crushed, followed by the traditional 6-7 day maceration on the skins. The wine is kept in steel until pressing off, then completes malolactic fermentation, followed by maturation in 33- and 50-hl oaks cases.

Ageing

Can be cellared 5-8 years.

Zenato

Valpolicella Superiore Ripassa

This wine is closely connected to the greatest wine of Valpolicella: Amarone. After pressing the dried grapes from which Amarone is made, the Valpolicella wine is passed over the still warm marc of Amarone. A second alcoholic fermentation begins which increases the alcoholic content and the wine becomes richer in colour, bouquet and body.

TECHNICAL NOTES

Vinification

Following manual harvesting and crushing-destemming, the fruit is given the traditional 5-6-day maceration on the skins in steel fermenters. After fermentation, the wine is pressed off and the press wine set aside. Upon completion of malolactic fermentation, maturation follows in 33- and 55 hl oak botti. It is then kept in steel until February, when the dried grapes are crushed to produce Amarone. Now the Valpolicella is 're-passed' over the Amarone pomace, then given a 10-day maceration at 25-30C. An 18-month maturation follows, with part of the wine in small oak, some in larger Slavonian oak cases. A carefully-monitored 6 months’ bottle-ageing completes the process

Ageing

The wine is aged for 18 months in 500 litre oak casks and barrels.

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico

Zenato Amarone is a wine with a great structure, complex, elegant and velvety. It is produced with grapes cultivated in the classical area of Valpolicella a land full of tradition and well known for it's wine and food culture.

TECHNICAL NOTES

Site

The vineyard is located in Sant’Ambrogio della Valpolicella, a
hilly zone exposed to the southeast, at 250-300 m a.s.l.

Vinification

After being picked and carefully graded, the grape clusters are placed in shallow wood trays for about 5 months, leaving space for air circulation around the bunches. After fermentation on the skins, the wine is divided into 300-litre French oak barrels and Slavonian oak cases for maturation of about two and a half years.

Riserva Sergio Zenato

The Zenato Amarone Classico Riserva Sergio Zenato DOCG presented seemed with aromas of the nose cooked sour cherries, wild berries, cedar wood and a subtle caramel note. On the palate, the Zenato Amarone Classico Riserva Sergio Zenato DOCG is voluminous, with a beautiful fullness and fine-grained tannins with great potential that are already integrated and support the structure. Full-bodied with a long, rich finish.

TECHNICAL NOTES

Vinification

The grapes were selected carefully by hand and laid to dry in shallow wood trays, just one layer deep, with clusters well separated for good air circulation. The alcoholic fermentation was followed by maceration on the skins, during which the wines extracts from the skins its smooth, fine-grained tannins; this process lasted 30 days. The wine then went to medium-sized Slavonian oak cases for a two and a half-year maturation, followed by a year's ageing in bottle.

Zenato Santa Cristina Rigoletto Bianco Passito Veneto IGT is made exclusively from dried Lugana (Trebbiano di Lugana) grapes. A variety of scents, such as vanilla, beeswax and apricot are captivating in this golden yellow dessert wine from Veneto. The sweetness harmonizes perfectly with the soft tannins. The taste resembles acacia honey and stays with you for a long time. Zenato Santa Cristina Rigoletto Bianco Passito Veneto IGT is an excellent match for any pastries and cakes, as well as dark chocolate.

Vinification

First 3-4 days in stainless steel tank, and then 30/40 days in barriques of new French oak.

Ageing

Aged for 12-15 months in new barriques, then for 1-2 months in stainless steel barrels after racking, and finally for 5-6 months in the bottle before being released on the market.

This dessert wine lights up the glass with its vibrant nuanced colors. It’s marvelous when served with chocolate fondue but it also pairs well with any oven-fired dessert, like Verona-style pandoro, classic panettone, or even crunchy cookies.

Vinification

After the first 3-4 days in small stainless steel tanks, fermentation is continued in new barrels of French oak for 12-15 months until maturation. The aging, after a couple of months in steel, has lasted for about six months in the bottle

Soave Classico

Soave Classico Zenato is a not too heavy, elegant dry white wine, which lends itself very well to many occasions. Soave has been one of the most famous white wines in Italy for years. This wine enjoys this reputation mainly due to its good and usually constant quality. The grapes for the Zenato Soave Classico all come from that part of the province of Verona that is limited to 13 named municipalities, including Soave. Only in these municipalities are grapes grown, which have been registered for planting since ancient times. The wine is made from 30% Trebbiano and 70% Garganega. With its attractive fruit aromas supported by a fresh and lively acidity, this Soave tastes great on a terrace in the sun, but also certainly goes well with a tasty salad or a light fish dish.
