Towering temples to wine and vine

Australian Architect Norman Day visited the new Rocca di Frassinello winery, located in Tuscany and designed by the world famous Italian Architect Mr. Renzo Piano. There he found striking similarities to Victoria's Sam Miranda winery, as though they were two parts of the one idea. Designed by different architects and built halfway around the world from each other, they both have a signature tower, both are buried under the landscape and both are modern architecture built to function in a similar way. While they may look and feel similar, they were built with different ethical and moral views in mind. In his article to The Age, Norman Day examines these two extraordinary wineries.
