Heir to an old family in Mareuil sur Aÿ, Charles Philipponnat is the President and CEO of the eponymous House.

A graduate of the Paris Institute of Political Studies and of INSEAD, he also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in corporate law. He has 20 years experience in the wine and Champagne sectors, gained both in France and overseas at Moét & Chandon where he was Executive Director (and where his father was Cellar Master).

The family lineage goes back five centuries and more than 15 generations of Philipponnat in Aÿ and Mareuil sur Aÿ. Charles Philipponnat has made it his mission to make the Philipponnat House excel, drawing on its most genuine features: its geographic and historic location in the heart of Champagne and its vineyards which are the soul of its blends and its inspiration.

The strategy he believes in is simple: to offer wine connoisseurs and the international world of Haute Cuisine the best that Champagne can give. He believes that Philipponnat Champagnes are fine wines more than just simply sparkling. They are wines by their sheer vinosity and by the powerful nature of their terroir of origin.
