The Sottimano winery was founded in 1974 in the Cotte area by Rino Sottimano. Since then, he has developed the estate by buying other prestigious vineyards including Curra, Fausoni, Pajore and Basarin, - all located in the best areas within the Barbaresco appellation. Rino and his oenologist son Andrea cultivate an average of 13 hectares producing several austere and powerfully built Barbarescos. The estate is committed to a 'natural', environmentally sensitive winemaking process. Since 1990, the vines are treated using eco- friendly products with no use of pesticides or artificial fertilizers. Yeasts or bacterians are not used during the vinification process and the wines are bottled without filtering or fining.
