After tasting close to 3,000 Italian wines throughout 2012, James Suckling has for the first time selected his Top 100 Italian wines.
‘My list this year was a straightforward number crunch that sorted the wines I tasted by score out of a maximum of 100 points. The cut off point was 95 points,’ he says.
Although James tasted a number of great whites, all the wines in the tasting report were reds including the Zenato Amarone della Valpolicella Sergio Zenato Riserva 2006 falling 16th on the list with 98 points.
Among some of the other vino rosso greats to grace the list also distributed by Arquilla were the Luce della Vite Brunello di Montalcino Luce 2007, Pio Cesare Barolo Ornato 2008, Siro Pacenti Brunello di Montalcino 2007 and Siro Pacenti Brunello di Montalcino PS Riserva 2006.
‘Next year I will be expanding coverage of Italian wines even more. And I am sure my Top 100 will be even more exciting,’ he says.
