Leading independent fine wine review site Robert Parker has rated two of Arquilla’s Pio Cesare Barolos 95 and 94 points respectively.
Described as a great fall back wine for those wanting to know the flavour profile of a classic, well-made Barolo the 2010 Pio Cesare Barolo was awarded an exceptional 95 points. Described by reviewer Monica Larner as “a textbook wine from an exceptional vintage,” the blend comprises a complex mix of black fruit and prune folded together with tones of ash, crushed mineral licorice, white truffle and dried raspberry. With firm but polished tannins, Monica describes the finish as “leaving a lasting imprint of dark fruit and cola on an elegant finish.”
Scoring an impressive 94 points the 2010 Pio Cesare Barolo Ornato is a somewhat bolder style, displaying more structure and density than that of the 2010 Pio Cesare Barolo. With an opulence and richness that, according to Monica makes the 2010 vintage irresistible, she describes the Ornato as “an elegant and articulate wine that boasts a long aromatic range, spanning berry fruit to ethereal balsam oil.” Aged in new barrique (70%) and large casks, this wine is almost ready to enjoy now.
Arquilla congratulates Pio Cesare on these wonderful ratings.
