Declaring that these are the "white icons of our times", we are thrilled to share that two wines offered by Arquilla were celebrated as top picks – the Gewürztraminer Nussbaumer from Tramin and the Terre Alte from Livio Felluga.
In his review of the Tramin offering, D'Agata proclaims that “the only Gewürztraminers that can compete with Alsace's are those from Alto Adige/Südtirol, and of these, Nussbaumer is the best.”
To produce this wine, a one- to three-hour maceration on the skins is followed by a soft pressing and remains on the lees until the following August.
The drinking experience is described as "peach, rose, geranium and cinnamon notes, plus smoke and eucalyptus nuances, and a rather rich texture".
Suggested best vintages from recent years are the 2009, 2011 and 2012.
From Livio Felluga, the Terre Alte was described as "Italy's best white-wine blend".
The wine was noted for its "mineral and spicy floral notes (hawthorn, sage)" and "ripe orchard-fruit aromas and flavours". The finish is delicate, described as having "a very light touch of oak rounding out the whole".
Arquilla congratulates our friends from Tramin and Livio Felluga on this wonderful recognition of an outstanding product.
